Services: Fillings
The most common fillings of the past, amalgam or silver fillings with which most of us are familiar, are no longer acceptable by the American Dental Association. The reason for this is that they are worn down over time (approximately 10 years) and cause "micro-leakage" allowing for recurrence of dental decay. A filling equates the removal of dental disease, decay from your tooth and can be replaced with the following options:
Resin: (composite) filling: a polymer made up of a resin that is tooth-like in its structure and which is white in color to match your teeth. Longevity is 5-7 years.
Porcelain: a hard structure that is tooth-like in structure and more durable than resin. Porcelain is white in color and can last a lifetime without replacement.
Gold: the oldest restorative material used. The color is gold to yellow-white, and can last a lifetime without replacement.
